Donald Patterson has been a professional musician for over 30 years and he is currently a performer, producer and educator. He is a graduate of Texas Southern University with a B.S. Degree in Music Education. Donald has also studied at Rutgers University as a grant recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts. He is an experienced bassist, skilled in the electric and upright bass. During his career he has performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. As an artist Donald released his CD "Family" on Independent label, Global Music Alternative, headquarted in Los Angeles, CA.
Don, a Texas native, toured for many years with Grammy nominated saxophonist Kirk Whalum and with Smooth Jazz Artist of the year Peter White. In his first solo effort. Patterson features a host of talented artist including Whalum, White, guitarist Doc Powell and saxophonist Ron Brown. Patterson also introduces two new singers, silky smooth baritone Ceaser, and the fresh, upbeat sound of Nick Jackson. Family is a compilation of a variety of soulful and moving songs written by Patterson and a few cover tunes brought to new life by his tenor bass licks. To prove his point, Patterson showcases the talent of his own family members on the CD. Listen closely and you will hear them rapping and singing background and you will also enjoy lyrics on which they have collaborated.
